Woman dies after being hit by garbage truck in Dhaka’s Jatrabari

A woman, who came to Dhaka for treatment from Bhola, was killed when a garbage truck reportedly belonging to Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) knocked her down in the city's Jatrabari area early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Nazma Begum, wife of Yunus Mia of Borhanuddin Upazila in Bhola district, reports UNB.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police outpost, said Nazma was crushed under the wheels of the garbage truck after she fell on the road from a battery-run auto-rickshaw around 5:00 am, became critically injured.

Later, she was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Nazma met the tragic accident while heading towards Shanir Akhra from Dhaka’s Sadarghat area.
