In the 2022/2023 financial year, the City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate spent just over R53 million in procuring jet machine trucks, vacuum tanker trucks and jet vacuum combination trucks.

The three types of trucks were built specifically to meet the directorate’s needs using the latest internationally available technology:

These new concept trucks have one tank compared to previous trucks of its kind that had two tanks. They have a dual capability and can unblock sewer drains and suction raw sewage.

The front part of the tank is for clean water to unblock sewer drains and has a capacity of 5 000 litres and it can release water at a high pressure.

The rear section of the tank is for raw sewage and has a tank capacity of 4 000 litres and it can suction to – 60 bars which make this a very versatile operations vehicle.
